Final Poster

My Capstone presentation was awesome because..

I'm awesome. My website was awesome. My poster was awesome. My essay was awesome. Even my curriculum was awesome. Even more so, my judge was awesome. Capstone is awesome.

Perfect Presentation

1). On the second day of class in my British Literature class, my professor gave a presentation. It was literally the most boring presentation I have ever witnessed in my entire life. I was fighting off sleep on the SECOND day of class. It was an all black and white PowerPoint with no pictures and no transitions. As well as it was fully loaded with text. It was awful. On the other hand, I had to go to a Defensive Driving class for 6 hours last Saturday (to help pay off a speeding ticket) and it was actually really entertaining. The man teaching the course told a lot or stories as well as jokes, showed a lot of videos, and even played games and such to keep the class involved.

2). There have been numerous times when I had been working on an assignment while trying to hold a full conversation through texting or by checking Facebook and Instagram, but in the end, it only took me longer to complete my assignment than it would have taken if I hadn't done anything else and focused solely on my assignment at hand.

3). I would use a lot of images, videos, and personal stories as a basis for my points being made. All of these resources would help improve my presentation.

4). Honestly, I think I did a really good job on my website including a lot of pictures and colors to keep the audience engaged and interested.

5).I haven't made a PowerPoint, so therefore, I will not be tossing any slides.

Brief Proposal Presentation to Class

My presentation is themed around young adults and education. It is meant to look school-ish, yet professional enough to be credible.

I'm using the website, a tri-fold project presentation thing to post my poster on as well as other information about my project, and I'm probably going to bring a bunch of cookies as well.

As far as my time-line goes, I'm almost done with my website and my poster is completed. I will get my tri-fold finished nearer to the due date. 

Weekly Blog Entries

A. I propose to create a course for high school students to take that would teach them about current events and foreign affairs, as well as local and national news occuring in their regions.

B. Now that I've done more work with adobe premiere, I'm planning on adding a video presentation to my website.

C. I will use a website as well as a video camera to record and post my video.

D. I chose this technology because I'm already pretty accustomed to it and know it relatively well.

E. I haven't seen any other student's proposals.

F. I need to create a poster board, finish my website, put together my video, and finish updating the information on my website.
I will be getting my video done within the coming month and I will probably get my poster done, in all honesty, the week of my capstone presentation.
I will have my rough draft of my essay done by the week after spring break.

Blog Update: Efforts of my website

Thus far, I have changed a little bit more information on my website. I decided that I'm going to try to put my own video on the page relating to one of my main points of service learning getting students involved. I also decided that rather than this site being a site explaining my project, it's going to be a prototype of what I would want if my project was actually being put into action. I have gotten a lot done with my website, and over all, I'm pretty happy with it.

I need to change some of the information on it, this was a rough draft used for a previous class. But I'm using the same general topic/subject. I just need to switch out the information for data that is more relevant.

PSA

I found images and music online that matched my topic. I just put them together as well as words explaining what the pictures were supposed to represent and in order to try and convey my message. I feel like my PSA is alright, but it would have been a lot better if I would have chosen different music. Unfortunately, in order to get my video done ahead of time, like I did so that I could work on assignments for other classes, I picked that as an easy solution. I think it would have better conveyed my message if I would have used something slower, more serious, and less corny. But overall, I'm happy with my result.

Entry C

i. No, my capstone project does not involve me constructing or purposing explanatory props. I may add a chart/diagram to my trifold thing that I'm making, but that's it.

ii. I will present my poster materials on a tri-fold. I plan to print my poster and place it in the middle of the trifold, then write more information on the two remaining sides.

iii. No, I will not be fabricating a model or creating a prototype.  I'll just be creating a website to provide further information for my viewers.

iv. The appropriate way to dress would be in dressy casual attire. I need to dress professional enough to demand respect, but casual enough to show approachability.

v. Important points for my to present are identifying the problem, saying why it is important/why people should care, examples through research, and my solution.

vi. I do not plan on presenting a brochure.

vii. I will be including my website for people to look at during my presentation.

Entry B

a)  My presentation will be passionate, but light-hearted. It will have slight humor, but still be relatively serious.

b)  I'm using tan/beige paper colors to give the school feel as well as colors like teal and a light red and dark yellows, bright but not too fun and childish. As well as type-writer and handwritten type font to match the school/class theme.May or may not use a graph in my presentation.

c)  My site and poster are persuasive through proving valid points and using inviting/appealing colors to draw people in and make them interested.

d)  I will come back to this one, "post support materials."

e)  I make it very clear with my text and information provided how I feel and what my view is.

f)  I'm sort of creating a variety of things,
the colors used will be pretty bright to attract younger generations on my website and my poster as well as writing an essay discussing the seriousness of my issue.

Entry A

a)  The goals of my project include gaining student interest in current events, educating students on current events, providing credible sources and unbiased instructors to inform the students and lead the courses efficiently and accurately.

b)  It is important because the voter turn out among younger generations is gradually decreasing showing us that the newer generations are less informed and interested in politics and current events. This is a problem because these are our nations future leaders and it is crucial for them to be interested and educated.

c)  These goals correspond with my future career goals, because as a journalist is will be my job to provide credible, truthful, and objective information to the masses.

d)  My project gives back to society by teaching students valuable information for free, as well as getting them more involved in their communities and country as a whole.

e)  My project is related to the environmental dimensions by including service learning in the curriculum, it is related to the social dimension by working towards teaching social sciences, and is related to the economic dimension by making the class free and accessable to anybody who is interested.

What I do for inspiration;

Usually, when I'm in need of some inspiration and motivation I watch things like Ted Talks or Interviews with people I look up to. I also watch documentary's on things that interest me to give me some inspiration. Sometimes I'll read articles of inspiring stories or listen to music that will hype me up. And sometimes I just sit and meditate on my thoughts until I reach a conclusion. It just depends on my mood and what happened to cause my lack of motivation.
